Supernatural Episode 5x08: Changing Channels )

In related news: I know that I was complaining about the potential suckage of Chicago Con just yesterday, but that didn't stop me from jumping up and down in my kitchen and squeeing like a fangirl when I got my ticket in the mail today. I may have twirled a bit, who knows? (My dog must think I'm a lunatic.)

*headdesk*

Sooo, I stayed up until 5 a.m. again and got my stupid self out of bed a whole HOUR earlier that I needed to. Without even realizing. My mom was just like, "What time do you need to be up??!! It's 8:30!!" and I automatically decided by the tone of her voice that I was gonna be late so I got up and got dressed and got in my car and... class isn't until 10. AUGHHH.

So here I am, bugging you with another iPod-related poll. This one's about punctuation, yay!

The | means that's where the line break would be:

So, how're y'all doin' today?

As you can see, I decided on the SPN quote. I think it fits to have a quote from the show on my iPod because I really do think that it has affected my music style. By which I mean, I was more exposed to classic rock when I started watching the show and eventually came to the conclusion that: 'THIS. THIS IS MY MUSIC.' Ergo, the SPN quote, and one that actually references the music in the show. That, and it's from the Pilot, and I love that scene, and it's the first time Dean calls Sam Sammy and and and.

I threw in that last one because - well, here's the whole thing:

SAM: I swear man, you've gotta update your cassette tape collection.
DEAN: Why?
SAM: Well for one, they're cassette tapes. And two, Black Sabbath? Motorhead? Metallica? It's the greatest hits of mullet rock.
Dean: *snatches a tape from Sam and pops it in* Well, house rules, Sammy: driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole.
SAM: You know, 'Sammy' is a chubby twelve year old. It's Sam, okay?
Dean: *AC/DC's "Back in Black" starts blasting from the Impala* Sorry, can't hear you. The music's too loud.

So I mean, HOW MUCH LOVE is that scene? The only problem I have with putting "House rules, Sammy" on there is that the name Sammy would be engraved onto an iPod named Enzo... and for some reason that just bothers me.

I also thought about putting: 'Sorry, can't hear you. | Music's too loud', but that just sounds like a generically lame cliche to put on an iPod without the context.

THIS IS SO HARD. Me and decision-making don't get along.

Despite the fact that I have a 3-5 page paper due by midnight that I still don't have a thesis for, on Halloween morning, when I have literally no free time to start said paper -

I knew it was going to be a good day anyway when my radio-alarm started blaring "Carry On, Wayward Son." ♥

I know it was very loud, very early on Saturday morning and it was probably waking up my family, but I just didn't have the heart to shut it off until the song was over.

I had a dream last night that a shirtless Sam Winchester managed to save someone's life in a very heroic fashion, and for some reason Dean said, erm, appreciatively, "Wow, this is exactly what it feels like when I think about angels being with humans."

... I don't ship either Cas/Dean or Wincest, so I have no idea where that came from.

In related news, I woke up at 2:30 this afternoon! Fall break is meant for catching up on homework, not sleeping! Oh well.

HEY GUYS SRS BSNS TIEM.

So I'm getting a new iPod. Quatre had been dying a slow death for the past couple of years, ever since I used it while cleaning stalls one day when it was -14 degrees outside (with the windchill), like an idiot, and the screen cracked. Thus:

Except it's a giant black spot of dead pixels, not blue. Which is starting to get on my nerves a little, since Q is just a glorified shuffle at this point, except harder to... shuffle. Because I can't see where I'm navigating to. Then yesterday he fell in the street while I was running with my dog and now he makes funny little strained sound whenever I use the wheel.

After much deliberation (okay not that much), I decided I want to get one of those new Gen 5 Nanos.

BUT. I HAVE PROBLEMS. DECISION MAKING PROBLEMS. THEY ARE LIFE-CHANGING. I NEED YOUR INPUT. WHY does it have to come in like eight million different colors, doesn't Apple know that I have a hard time making decisions?!

Umm, even harder? The engraving. I was thinking about, "Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole", but I probably won't be listening to it in the car. Plus it's a little rude. (I love you, Deano.)

Any music-related quotes that you guys can come up with from fandom? Or just any cool quotes you can think of?

Poll time!

Poll #1471468 I almost miss the days when my choices were "black" or "white".

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE ENGRAVED ON THE BACK?! (50 characters total; 25 per line, 2 lines.)

Then there's the issue of naming it. Should I name it Quatre after the old one? I probably won't, since I'll most likely delegate the old one to becoming my barn iPod, so I can ride with it and not worry too much about squashing it if I fall. The name might come after the color... or the quote... or both.

I know, I'm strange. BUT THIS IS SERIOUS!

After spending more than 7 hours in barista purgatory all morning/afternoon, boy was I glad to come home to new Merlin!

I have some thoughts... but beware: I'm writing a paper on Tennyson's The Idylls of the King (which is his retelling of Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur), so the original legend is on my mind.

Aaaand, this is a bit early since it's still the 10th in the states, but it's the 11th in the UK so happy birthday, Bradley James!

ETA: I LOVE YOU, F-LIST. After I wrote this I went and read a bunch of reviews from other people, and a lot of them had bad things to say about this episode. Then I check my friends page and you've all got such happy positive things to say, THANK YOU. ♥

This is a random question, but without telling me any other information about next week's episode, can anyone tell me who wrote and who directed it? I don't trust IMDB to keep spoilers a secret.

Have you guys ever had a class where a lot of important information is sent via email? I have this class tomorrow, right, Adv. Academic Writing, and my professor has never said anything about regularly checking email. I just checked my school mail on a whim - note that it's after 1 am - and there's a message from her saying that we're supposed to read these sample papers that she attached and comment on them for tomorrow.

She never mentioned it in class, never told us to check our email, and it has nothing to do with the assignment she did tell us about in class. So... what gives? Am I expected to just doo extra homework that she randomly decides to send via email, with no warning?

Doesn't help that she keeps moving around the due date for our paper - so it MIGHT be due by Thursday midnight like I thought, but it might also have been due today. I have no idea.

WHY, school, WHY. I cannot keep all this straight!
